Holiday bliss is just a ferry ride away
To get to Tioman, you need to get to Mersing first. This little old-charm town right on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia is the gateway to Tioman. The ferry to Tioman departs from Mersing, typically during high tide. So either keep an eye on the tidal charts for Malaysia, or else book your Tioman ferry tickets online, to know beforehand what time your ferry will depart.
By the way, there are buses and taxis that go to Mersing from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Buses are a bit cheaper, but a taxi is far more convenient, though they tend to have a somewhat higher cost than a bus of course.
Last thing to note if you've been thinking of going to Tioman: make sure you go any time from March until September. The remaining months Tioman is likely to be blustery and wet, as these are monsoon months.
